Participants in the 5th annual Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Walk for a Cure Sunday afternoon were greeted to beautiful weather at Heartland Park in Park Rapids.

The annual event aims to raise money for a cure. This year’s ambassador, Angie Bartels, said close to 100 people came out to walk and support efforts to raise money for a cure for MS.

“It was amazing weather,” she said. “We even had people come in off the street and say, ‘Can we join you? We’d like to donate.’”

The Park Rapids American Legion and Park Rapids Fire Department were at the event and McDonald’s had refreshments for walkers along the trail.

Dollars donated will support programs and services for more than 17,000 people with MS and their families in the Upper Midwest Chapter area. It will also help to fund cutting-edge research in order to stop the disease.
