NOAA Special Weather Statement: Critical fire conditions

2 Rollovers in Hubbard County Saturday afternoon

A truck, trailer and two snowmobiles were damaged when this pickup driver slid off the highway south of Park Rapids Saturday afternoon. The two occupants of the pickup were not seriously injured. (Sarah Smith/Enterprise))

Highways were slick from blowing snow and just enough sun to cause glazing conditions.

The first rollover at 1:30 p.m. was near the RDO plant south of Park Rapids.

Two passengers escaped serious injury when their pickup, hauling a trailer with two snowmobiles on it, slid off the highway and jackknifed in the eastern ditch.

The crash slowed down traffic while motorists struggled to avoid the slippery conditions.

Twenty minutes later another single vehicle rolled on Highway 2 near Cass Lake and the Cass Line Road in northern Hubbard County.

Leech Lake Tribal Officers scrambled to cover that accident while Hubbard County deputies left the first rollover to get to the second one. A Highway Patrol State Trooper out of Bemidji also responded to the second crash.

It was unknown if there were any injuries in the second rollover but an ambulance was called to the scene.

Just before 3 p.m. officers responded to a third crash at Highway 34 and Hubbard County 33 in which a pickup had gone into the ditch. The driver was up and walking around at the scene.
