Prime Time Cruise & Travel has opened in Park Rapids with Julia Palmer looking to continue offering travel services to people in the area.

Palmer, who grew up in England, has been in the travel business for about 15 years. Her love of travel stemmed from trips taken with her family as a child.

“It’s always been my passion,” she said.

She has been bringing bus tours to Park Rapids area theaters already and will continue to offer those types of trips. On those tours, Palmer has people visit local businesses and get a taste of the area.

Palmer hopes to continue to work with the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce to promote this area.

“We’ll also be looking at offering cruises and flying tours along with motorcoach,” she said.

Palmer said the travel agency will work with individuals and groups to plan trips.

“We can find better rates and find the best tours and places to stay,” she said.

In the age of the Internet, many people search online for travel deals but people need to be careful with what they are booking, Palmer said.

“With many of those online deals there are hidden fees,” she said. “There are advantages to working with professionals.”

Palmer has organized many international tours and a tour this summer to Italy was particularly memorable.

“We got within four feet of the Pope,” she said.

Other international trips have included Israel, Greece, Australia and New Zealand.

Motorcoach trips have included themes such as touring the wineries of Minnesota. An upcoming trip Palmer is thinking about is a Twins spring training trip to Florida.

Palmer and her agency work with individuals as well. Often, a couple or a family might not know what they can afford and she can help them figure out the right vacation based on their budget.

An open house will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 10, 11, 12, 17 and 18. Business hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. It is located on Highway 34 next to TruStar Federal Credit Union.
