A business and home north of Park Rapids caught fire early Friday morning.

The blaze started at about 4 a.m., said Park Rapids Fire Chief Donn Hoffman.

The business,, and home were lost, he said. It is located about 12 miles north of Park Rapids on Highway 71. The fire burned fast and hot but firefighters had the fire contained by about 7 a.m., Hoffman said.

“I’d estimate we used about 100,000 gallons of water on the fire,” Hoffman added.

Park Rapids hauled at least 66,000 gallons in the tankers. Menahga and Carsonville Fire Departments also fought the fire and brought tankers.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this point. The State Fire Marshal was on the scene Friday investigating the fire.
