Prayer seminar slated for Sept. 26-27

An area-wide prayer seminar for all, “Prayer is the Strategy,” will be held Thursday evening, Sept. 26 and Friday morning, Sept. 27 at Faithbridge Church, Highway 71 South, Park Rapids.

Dave Butts, president of Harvest Prayer Ministries, will lead this teaching seminar with the focus of prayer being the strategy for personal life and church life.

“It has been said that prayer is the most talked about and least done thing in the church,” Butts said.  “Why is prayer so important and at the same time so difficult for us to maintain?

“Learn what happens in practical terms when we make prayer our strategy and commit ourselves to the Lord who hears prayer,” he invites. “Discover steps you can take to grow daily in your prayer life.”

Butts is chairman of the National Prayer Committee which sponsors the National Day of Prayer each May. He serves on the executive committee of Mission America, and the U.S. Lausanne Committee. He is also chairman of the Board of Pioneer Bible Translators.

Three sessions are planned for the prayer seminar. Thursday evening at 5:30, followed by a light meal with session two at 7:30 p.m. Session three will be Friday morning at 8:30.

The prayer seminar is open to all who desire to attend. There is no registration or cost, but freewill offerings will be received for Harvest Prayer Ministries and the light meal Thursday night.

“I have known Dave for more than 30 years and have served with him on the same church staff, and currently serve with him on the executive committee of Pioneer Bible Translators,” said Dick Jorgensen of Lakeside Christian Church. “His parents were dear friends of our family, and we are excited that Dave is coming to lead this prayer seminar.”

Butts has written six books, the latest being “Desperate for Change.” He served as minister of Kansas (Illinois) Christian Church for 11 years following one term in the Indiana State Legislature House of Representatives.

Seminar co-sponsors throughout the Park Rapids area are: Elijah’s Echo, Evergreen Nazarene Church, Faithbridge Church, Grace Community Church, Lakeside Christian Church, Light House of Hope Ministries, New Life Community Church, Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church, Park Rapids Assembly of God, Park Rapids Church of Christ, Park Rapids Seventh Day Adventist Church, Riverside United Methodist Church, St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, and Trinity Church – Episcopal and Presbyterian.
