A woman was taken by ambulance to the Park Rapids hospital Monday afternoon after rear-ending a gravel truck on Highway 34.

The accident, at 5 p.m., snarled traffic on the busy highway east of Dorset as a dozen officers, medical personnel and an ambulance rushed to the scene.

A witness said the woman rear-ended the truck, but she did not know why.

It appeared as if the truck may have been turning off the highway about a half-mile east of the Dorset Corner.

The woman was momentarily trapped in the vehicle until she could be lifted onto a spine board.

The State Patrol, Hubbard County Sheriff’s Department, Park Rapids police, North Memorial Ambulance and Hubbard First Responders all rushed to assist getting the woman out of her car and with traffic control.

     No information was available.

It did not appear that the driver, who was alone in her vehicle, sustained life-threatening injuries. She was taken to St. Joseph’s Area Health Services.
