UPDATED: Helicopters respond to two crashes Saturday

Medevac helicopters responded to two crashes Saturday afternoon in Hubbard County.
One person was airlifted to Bemidji Sanford following a crash around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Highways 45 and 16 in northeast Hubbard County. The person was suffering from back pains.
In a 6 p.m. crash south of Laporte, a motorcycle driver was airlifted to an unknown hospital following a crash off County Road 39.
The victim suffered head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.

The first crash was reported at approximately 1:50 p.m., at the intersection of Hubbard County Road 45 and Hubbard County Road 16. One vehicle was travelling northbound on County Road 45, and was occupied by a 33 year old male, from Zimmerman, MN. The second vehicle was travelling eastbound on County Road 16, and was occupied by a 61 year old male and a 60 year old female, both from Cass Lake, MN. The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, MN State Patrol, Lakeport First Response, Lakeport Fire, Leech Lake Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care all assisted with the crash. One adult male was airlifted from the scene, and the second adult male, along with the adult female were transported by ground ambulance from the scene. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time. This crash remains under investigation by the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office and the MN State Patrol.
The second crash was reported at approximately 5:52 p.m. on Saturday, August 3rd, 2013. A single motorcycle lost control and crashed on 354th Street, just east of Hubbard County Road 39. The motorcycle operator was a 55 year old male from the Laporte area. The male subject was air lifted from the scene, and transported to a hospital in Fargo, ND. The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, MN State Patrol, Lakeport First Response, North Memorial Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care all assisted with the crash. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time. This crash remains under investigation by the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office and the MN State Patrol.
