Activities Foundation releases school events calendar
The Park Rapids Education and Activities Foundation (PREAF) is promoting its first school/activity calendar.
The 12-month calendar will include Panther athletic schedules and school activities. The pages of the calendar are filled with photos of some of the Panther athletics, activities, and organizations that have been awarded monetary allocations by the PREAF. Calendars are $10 and will be available at numerous home athletic events, school offices and Citizen's National Bank.
The mission of the PREAF is to ensure the funding for strong and healthy educational, fine arts, and athletic programs of the Park Rapids Area Schools, as well as providing a contribution structure for these and other school programs. The Park Rapids Education and Activities Foundation provides opportunities to Panther students. Funds are raised through contributions from individuals, associations, and corporations as memberships, as well as the Foundation's annual fundraiser dinner on Sept. 21 at the American Legion.
Decisions are made by a Board of Directors, a group of community leaders with a strong commitment to educational excellence. Granting priorities include:
n Art, music and drama activities.
n Educational and academic activities and equipment.
n Athletic programs.
Grant requests are considered by the board within a defined set of guidelines on a case-by-case basis.
The Panther Cub Club is entering its sixth season; initiated in 2007 by the Park Rapids Education and Activities Foundation and co-sponsored by Citizens National Bank. The club is open to all Panther fans grades pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. The goal of the Panther Cub Club is to put young Panther fans close to the action of all Panther athletic teams and give them the opportunity to interact with coaches and student athletes. The Cub Club has enrolled over 200 students per year since its implementation.
As a 501(c)3 organization, all contributions to PREAF are tax-deductible by individuals, associations, and corporations up to the amount allowed by applicable state and federal laws. Another way the foundation raises money is through annual memberships of varying levels. The benefits of the membership include athletic and fine arts performance passes, articles of Panther clothing, and window stickers. Sustaining memberships are also available.
