A scholarship fund has been established by family and friends of Dawn Marie Sanquist Anderson.

Dawn's life was devoted to youth and community as an Early Childhood advocate, day care provider and community leader. Dawn promoted a safe, loving and educational environment for young children with the opening of Briar Patch Corner Day Care Center in 2006, which currently offers services to over 50 families.

The purpose of the scholarship fund is to provide post-secondary financial assistance for high-school graduates of Park Rapids, Nevis, Akeley and Menahga who are interested in pursuing a career in Early Childhood Development.

The selection will be based on the following factors: selection of future career, financial need, leadership skills, scholastic achievements, community involvement/work history, and expressed desire to work with children.

Gina Isaacson was the first recipient of the scholarship.
