Park Rapids Area High School theatrical performers have once again "starred" at state, earning the designation from a panel of judges Thursday at the 2011 State One-Act Play Festival in St. Paul.

This is the 13th star rating in the school's 26th appearance at the festival.

Representing Section 6 in Class A, Park Rapids students performed "Property Rites." The play was written by Alan Haehnel and directed by Juliann Kjenaas and Jonathan Harrison.

In the play, Kyle Macmanus has invested in a high tech work of art - a sculpture of human-like figures programmed to perform movements, monologues and more. But just when Kyle is about to make a sale, the sculpture "malfunctions" and thus begins the figures' fatal race against their owner's final destructive solution.

Cast members are Jason Dennis, Jacob Froelich, Kalee Holland, Luke Swenson, Sarah Schultz, Eryn Simpson, Sophie Shogren, Hannah Fischer, Alana McKeever, Emily Grimes, Kelsey Adolphson, Danielle Hill, Jesseca Pritchett, Paula Guajardo, Megan Larson and Michelle Farlee.

The stage crew included Taylor Wheeler, Amanda Splittstoesser, Brandon Haller, and Oscar Myanges.

Park Rapids Area High School earned previous top ratings in 1972, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1982, 1991, 1993, 1994, 2000, 2009 and 2010.

The two-day festival, sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League, was conducted at the O'Shaughnessy Auditorium on the St. Catherine University campus in St. Paul.
