PANTHER POST: Students will be out of school early this year due to building project
Park Rapids High School will be getting out of school on May 28 this year, four days earlier than normal. This is due to construction.
Park Rapids High School will be updating its boilers' air handlers from steam to hot water and installing new windows. These improvements will save on energy costs.
The whole school will have to be emptied of everything; they will be storing everything in the gymnasium and the commons in the high school.
Construction will begin on June 7.
"We are hoping to have the project completed by the start of school next year" said Principal Al Judson.
Johnson Controls will be working on this project, along with other sub contractors.
The estimated cost of this project will be $11.2 million. Some of the funding will come from the federal stimulus money.
