Businesses invited to 'Light up Park Rapids'

In an effort to add to the festive air of the upcoming holiday season, the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Association are inviting businesses throughout the community to put up lights in window displays or on their buildings.

Known as "Light Up Park Rapids," this initiative is an invitation to businesses to help create lighted corridors this holiday season. The goal is a beautiful, seasonal community collaboration to brighten up Park Rapids as the days grow shorter.

"The Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber and Downtown Business Association (PRDBA) are excited to reintroduce holiday lighting to the downtown area again and spark the holiday spirit community wide," said Katie Magozzi, Chamber executive director.

The light decorating contest will run from Wednesday, Nov. 23 through Saturday, Dec. 10 with Park Rapids shoppers choosing their favorite display. The winner will be announced at the Jingle Bells Drawing and Gala Celebration Thursday, Dec. 15 at Century School.

Ballots will be available in the Park Rapids Enterprise or on the PRDBA website: and may be dropped off at J&B Foods, Coborn's or the Park Rapids Chamber office, 1204 Park Ave. So. (Only the official ballots or votes from the website will be counted. Ballots must be turned in/submitted by 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.)

The winning business will receive a traveling trophy with a photo of the winning display and a $100 donation to the charity of the winner's choice.

Businesses must sign up by 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 to participate. For more information, please contact the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce by calling 218-732-4111 or emailing
