Schallers Gaming and Hobbies has opened in downtown Park Rapids.

The business, located on 3rd Street East off of Main Avenue specializes in tabletop games. Some of the featured games include Munchkin and Settlers of Cataan.

Owners Erika Schaller and Scott Forsberg have always been interested in playing games.

"Munchkin is probably my favorite," Schaller said.

The couple also encourages others to play games and invites the public to their shop for game nights.

Monday is "Munchkin Monday," for "Wild Wednesday" people can bring any game they want, "Dungeons and Dragons" is played on Fridays and Saturdays is "Magic the Gathering."

"Anyone can come," Forsberg said. "We start at 5 p.m. and play until everyone is sick of playing."

The store doesn't have any set hours. Forsberg joked that he is "open most days by 9 or 10, maybe as early as 8," and said the closing time also varies depending on how the game playing is going.

Schallers has a regular group of customers and game enthusiasts who come to play at the shop but new shoppers are more than welcome.

If a certain game isn't in stock at the store Forsberg can make a special order.

"I'm always looking to add games for people who have a certain request," he said.

Forsberg also has custom-painted miniatures (figurines) available at the shop and hopes to carry R/C cars.
