A Seip Drug will soon be welcoming customers at the former Snyders Drug location in Menahga.

Owner Nate Seip said the opening date has not yet been determined, but he's anticipating early March.

An agreement has been reached for Seip to lease the building once Snyders relinquishes their lease.

Seip Drug will offer prescription services through their Park Rapids store until their new pharmacy opens in Menahga, Seip said.

When the 6,000-square-foot Menahga store reopens, it will carry a similar merchandise mix with more giftware added to the inventory, he said.

Seip said they hope to retain most of the existing staff from Snyders for their new operation in Menahga. This includes a full-time pharmacist and one or two part-time pharmacists.

Seip Drug currently operates in eight locations: New York Mills, Perham, Henning, Battle Lake, Frazee, Detroit Lakes, Moorhead and Park Rapids. The first Seip Drug was started in New York Mills in 1988, the company's headquarters.

Snyders Drug was sold to Walgreens in January. At that time it was announced that Walgreens would convert the Park Rapids Snyders Drug to a Walgreens, but would be closing the Menahga Snyders Drug location by the end of February.
