Second LWV forum set Oct. 25 will showcase local house candidates

The public is invited to Meet the Candidates Night from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at the Northwoods Bank Community Room, sponsored by the Park Rapids League of Women Voters.

Candidates invited are Dist. 2 Senator Rod Skoe (DFL) and Republican challenger Dennis Moser, both of Clearbrook; House 2A Rep. David Hancock (Republican of Bemidji) and DFL challenger Roger Erickson of Baudette, and the open seat for House 2B being sought by Brita Sailer (DFL-Park Rapids) and Steve Green (Republican-Fosston).

The audience is asked to submit written questions to the candidates. For the first time this year, questions may be submitted by e-mail to prapidsleague@ up to 24 hours prior to the event. Pencils and paper will be provided at the event or bring your questions with you. League members will collect audience questions to be screened.

Similar questions may be consolidated.

The League is sponsoring this and other candidate forums to educate the public about issues in the campaigns, provide an opportunity for voters to hear candidates discuss those issues face-to-face, stimulate public interest and participation in the elections and provide an opportunity for the candidates to engage their constituents.

The audience will be invited to stay for coffee and cookies following the event.
