Akeley in turmoil after city staff quits abruptly
Akeley's clerk-treasurer Denise Rittgers and part-time clerk assistant Susan Walter have resigned following a special council meeting Tuesday night for an "employee performance review."
Rittgers met in a closed meeting for about 45 minutes with council members Trygve Karl, Terry Chalich, Troy Hegg and mayor Jennifer Mitchell to "identify areas of concern."
The council subsequently approved a motion reducing Rittgers' hours from 36 to 24 and increasing Walter's hours from 10 to 22.
Rittgers was also to undergo a review by the council in January and a monthly review by a commissioner.
