Winter storm warning in effect through tomorrow night for Hubbard County, region

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota through Sunday night, including Hubbard County.

The weather service estimates about six inches of snow will fall over most of northern North Dakota and northern Minnesota; three to five inches is expected to accumulate from Valley City, N.D., to Fargo, to Wadena, Minn., and southward, including Park Rapids.

Snow will spread into the Devils Lake, N.D., region tonight, reaching the Red River by midnight and northern Minnesota by sunrise tomorrow.

Winds will be east to southeast at 15 to 30 mph tonight and become north 15 to 30 mph Sunday afternoon and evening. This will cause some blowing and drifting snow, according to a release from the National Weather Service.

Another significant storm system is expected in the Northern Plains Tuesday and Wednesday.
