Cold weather exposure apparently claims life of DL man

A Detroit Lakes man was found dead at his doorstep Saturday morning, apparently after dying of exposure on a night when overnight lows were below zero.

Aaron Braasch, 36, was found by a relative about 8 a.m. outside the house he lived in on the 600 block of Roosevelt Avenue, according to Detroit Lakes Police Sgt. Chad Glander.

"He was found unresponsive," Glander said, "right outside the door."

Braasch's body has been sent for an autopsy to Midwest Medical Examiner in the city of Ramsey in Anoka County.

"We're still waiting for the final results," Glander said. "No foul play is suspected ... There was an extreme cold warning Friday night."
