Man accused of assaulting probation officer in Detroit Lakes
A probation officer was attacked by a man under her supervision Wednesday afternoon in Detroit Lakes.
The Department of Corrections officer had retreated to her car and was not harmed in the incident, according to a news release from Detroit Lakes Police Chief Tim Eggebraaten.
While police were responding to the call, the man accused of the attack called 911 and reported that he had just assaulted his probation officer and was waiting for police to come and pick him up.
Jonathon Davis Wieland, 21, was arrested without incident at his residence, located on the 300 block of Summit Avenue.
He was under intensive supervision by the Department of Corrections.
The incident was reported at 4:16 p.m. The agent had been able to escape from Wieland and had retreated to her vehicle, where she called another probation officer, who contacted law enforcement.
Wieland is now in the Becker County Jail awaiting formal charges from the Becker County Attorney's Office.
