Returning to a regular schedule on Jan. 1, Peace Lutheran in Nevis will begin the New Year by welcoming a new interim pastor, the Rev. Dan Christ.
As a congregation committed to the confessional Lutheran teachings, Pastor Christ and members of Peace are eager to share the gospel so others may be drawn into the life of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Christ, a semi-retired Lutheran pastor, serves God and his people through active ministry. He has served 37 years as an ordained minister, of which 21 years were in specialized pastoral care/chaplaincy.
More recently, Pastor Christ served for 15 months as an interim minister at the St John-Bethany Lutheran parish of Hatton, N.D.
In October he was certified as a pastor in the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). Pastor Christ and his wife, Karen, reside in Grand Rapids.
Pastor Christ states that he has a passion for communicating in worship with reverence for God and his people by faithful presentation of law and gospel.
His pastoral role as spiritual leader at Peace for the coming months will include preaching and liturgy, visiting, counseling, and educating. He will help to energize Peace Lutheran as the congregation works through a time of growth and transition, as members look forward to the future and calling a permanent pastor.
Peace Lutheran continues to worship at the Nevis School at 9:30 a.m. with traditional worship service the first and third Sundays, and contemporary worship with Joyful Noise on the second and fourth Sundays.
