DL man charged with strangling teenager
A Detroit Lakes man made his first appearance Monday in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of domestic assault by strangulation.
Brian David DuVall, 33, of 1238½ Washington Ave., Unit 2, Detroit Lakes, is accused of assaulting a juvenile male victim at his home on Nov. 3.
According to the complaint, he grabbed the boy by the arm, squeezed it and hit him in the face, then placed him in a headlock and tried to choke him, so he couldn't breathe for 20-30 seconds.
He is also facing a gross misdemeanor count of malicious punishment of a child as well as two misdemeanor counts of domestic assault in connection with the incident.
DuVall has been released on $2,000 bond pending his next court appearance, at a Dec. 19 omnibus hearing.
