Winter Hazard Awareness Week comes amid sun, balmy temps

The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office-Emergency Management office reminds local citizens that Nov. 7-11 is Minnesota's Winter Hazard Awareness Week.

As the winter season arrives, the sheriff's office recommends all residents establish a plan, build an emergency supply kit and educate themselves to the proper preparedness steps needed to take in the event of an emergency.

The Winter Hazard Awareness Week campaign is designed to inform and prepare the public and encourages the proper protective actions to reduce the loss of life and damage to property when threatened by Minnesota's severe weather.

Each day of the week will focus on a different type of hazardous winter weather.

Monday holds a winter weather overview. Tuesday addresses outdoor winter safety. Wednesday looks at fire safety and Thursday, indoor winter safety. Winter driving is Friday's focus.
