Northern Knights will display vintage cars

In addition to street rods, this year's Run to the Rapids will include motorbikes.

The Northern Knights celebrate their 28th annual Run to the Rapids street rods show, on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12 and 13 in Park Rapids.

For the first time ever, the event will also include Bikes on Main Street, sponsored by Thunder Roads Minnesota magazine.

Car registration begins at 4 p.m. Friday at the C'mon Inn. Registration fee is $25 and includes two $6 meal tickets for Saturday's dinner (participating restaurants' name will be on meal card). Make payments payable to "Northern Knights."

Following that there will be food and soda served, with rock-n-roll music to top it all off. This event is free to all participants.

Bike registration is at 9 a.m. Saturday. Fee is $25 per bike, $5 per passenger. This includes two $6 meal tickets for the Saturday night dinner at participating restaurants. A motorcycle ride leaves at noon with stops along the way. Proceeds will benefit the Hubbard County Food Shelf.

For the cars, Saturday kicks off with registration at 8 a.m. on Main street in downtown Park Rapids, following that will be the show-n-shine and trophy presentation at noon.

There will be drawings for cash and prizes all morning for registered participants. Must be present to win; club members not eligible.

After a meal at a restaurant of your choice from 5-7 p.m., stop by the C'mon Inn for a free root beer float.
