2 children killed, another injured in Grand Forks semi-van crash; authorities seek witnesses

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Two children under the age of 10 were killed here this morning after a semi-van crash.

A semi driver was traveling east on U.S. Highway 2 when it collided with a 1995 GMC Safari Van, which was heading north on Grand Forks County Road 5.

The vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes of the intersection at 9:57 a.m., according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The 39-year-old Grand Forks man driving the van was taken to the hospital. Two children under the age of 10 were killed while another child was injured and taken to the hospital.

The 64-year-old semi driver also sustained possible injuries and taken to the hospital. The man is from Jamestown.

No one involved in the crash has been identified by the Highway Patrol.

The intersection is controlled by traffic signals.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
