Despite having a taste of winter earlier this week the Main Avenue reconstruction project is still on schedule with plans to open the street to traffic Friday, Nov. 5.

"We've just got a little concrete pouring left to do," said project manager Jon Olson.

During the next week crews will finish the concrete placement and sealing, install trees and grade the side streets to tie into the main road.

Concrete will be cleaned and sealed and then pavement will fill in the side streets. Some awnings will need to be modified and that should be completed in the next week as well.

The sidewalks were expected to be cleaned up and ready for foot traffic today (Saturday) for the Trick or Treat Park Rapids event from 3 to 6 p.m. in downtown.

Olson said there is still a hold up on the light poles but there are plans for temporary lighting.

"We're in the home stretch now," he said.

There will be one more construction meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 at Bella Caffé.
