Main Avenue could be opened to traffic by Friday, Nov. 5

Concrete work was wrapping up this week on Main Avenue and seasonal wrap-up will consume the next two weeks.

The goal for opening Main Avenue to traffic is Nov. 5, said project manager Jon Olson.

Services in the east alleys are complete, along with underground work south of 8th Street. Sanitary sewer replacement in the east alley has begun and was scheduled to be complete this week.

Seasonal wrap-up will include concrete cleaning and sealing, pavement on the side streets, planting trees and installing grates, awning modifications, temporarily filling inlay areas, general site and building clean-up and removal of traffic control barriers.

Pavement striping and parking stall delineations will likely wait until spring. Also, some clean-up items will be extended until next spring.

The schedule for street light installation is still uncertain but could be the end of November or December.

The second phase of the project will be next spring, with underground work on the side streets of downtown.

Weekly meetings will continue at 8 a.m. Thursdays at Bella Caffé until the project is completed this fall.
