The "farm" has moved into the city.

Summerhill Farm has opened a shop on the first block of Main, carrying women's apparel "and the best" of the lines offered in the quaint shopping village north of Park Rapids.

Owners Jeff and Eileen Reish moved to the area eight years ago from Seattle. The family now includes "mascots" Jake, 9, and Sam, 6, who were the impetus for the move. "This is a great place to raise kids. They love school," Eileen said.

"Rural" Summerhill Farm closes in September; this year the Reishs deciding to continue the store's season through December, the terms of the building lease.

The store's "niche," Eileen said, is the 30-plus age group. Summerhill Farm carries "trendy clothes, in a range of price points," she explained. Customers will see familiar lines of clothing, jewelry and accessories found at Summerhill, as well as new lines arriving daily.

A component of their store is helping customers find outfits and accessories to meet their needs. "We know the merchandise," Eileen said of assisting clientele.

Eileen and Jeff, arriving at mid-construction on Main, put a spin on the adventure with a contest on Facebook. The person coming up with the date when Main will once again be navigable via vehicle will be declared the winner.

Summerhill Farm has seasonal gifts, personalized items for all ages, home decorating accessories, rugs and other "household necessities."

The store is also home to Summerhill foods, sauces, old-fashioned preserves, soup and mixes for hors d'oeuvres and cheesecake.

The customers, she said, have been appreciative. "They are happy to have another store in town."

Summerhill Farm is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
