Walhalla, N.D., woman sentenced for defrauding boyfriend of $42,000

A Walhalla, N.D., woman accused of running up a $42,000 credit-card bill in her boyfriend's name was sentenced Tuesday to five years of supervised probation and 100 hours of community service.

Angie Gunderson, 33, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and four counts of identity theft. But if she stays of out trouble for five years, the six felony convictions would be wiped from her record.

The office of the Walsh County, N.D., state's attorney said the restitution Gunderson owed her boyfriend has been paid.

A criminal complaint alleged that Gunderson made $15,000 in purchases on her boyfriend's Discover and Sam's Club cards and spent another $27,000 using four credit-card accounts she opened using his personal information.

The crimes occurred from March 2006 to March 2010, the complaint said.
