Legends and Logging Days 2010 was a success, with amazing weather and tremendous community support, according to organizers.

"The weather was great, people had a great time, our sponsors were tremendous," said Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce director Katie Magozzi.

The chips were flying Friday and Saturday as master chainsaw carvers sculpted wood into creative pieces of art. Several quick carve events wowed the audience both days as well.

"The Cub Scouts did an amazing job selling beverages," Magozzi said. "They were out there in their uniforms and very professional."

She said the minnow races and family log sawing events were a success because of the help of volunteers.

"The loon calling contest was a hit once again," Magozzi added. "The crowd certainly enjoys that."

Carvings were auctioned off Saturday afternoon before the logging events began. Magozzi said one of the logging competitors bought one of the welcome signs then donated it to be auctioned again, with all proceeds going to Kinship.

"It was really neat for everyone to get into the spirit," she said.

The logging events were a hit once again, with the bleachers packed with spectators.

"What was neat to see was the world champions, along with the seasoned competitors and the young, up and coming competitors," Magozzi said.

The St. Joseph's Hospice sponsored chili and hot wings contest was popular, with most dishes running out before the end of the day.
