Police receive reports of black bear sightings this morning in south Fargo

FARGO - Police are responding this morning to reports of a black bear in the city limits.

The latest call came into police about 7:23 a.m. At least one report came in earlier.

A police officer, responding to the information from a dispatcher,asked if he was looking for a bear cub.

"We're going with a 300-lb black bear," the dispatcher responded.

Officers were searching the area north of Interstate 94 near the power lines by 42nd Street South.

One officer asked a dispatcher to call the Main Stay Suites, 1901 44th St. S., and ask hotel patrons to remain inside because of the bear report.
