Panthers dominate Wolves

Hat tricks by Kyle Kanten and Sam Coborn and another shutout by Ryan O'Mara led the Park Rapids-Menahga boys hockey team to a 13-0 win over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Tuesday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.

O'Mara recorded his fifth shutout of the season as the Panthers held a 56-8 edge in shots. Eight different players scored goals and 12 different players had assists as Park Rapids improved to 14-5-1 on the season.

In other Park Rapids varsity sports events Tuesday:

Leeza Tostenson tallied a hat trick in leading the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team to an 8-1 victory over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek at Wadena.

Crosby-Ironton backed up its No. 4 ranking in this weeks' state Class AA boys basketball poll with a 72-29 Mid-State Conference win at Park Rapids.

Thief River Falls won eight events en route to a 99-71 win over the Park Rapids boys swimming team at the Area High School pool.

West Central built a 38-12 lead and held on for a 38-35 victory over the Park Rapids wrestling team at Barrett.
