A Park Rapids man died at the scene of a car-motorcycle accident just before 6 p.m. Friday.

The accident occurred at the intersection of County Roads 15 and 6, just south of the Hubbard County Transfer Station.

The motorcyclist, identified as John Harley Kisner Jr., 42, of Park Rapids, died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Ford Focus, also involved in the accident, was identified as Brittany Ann Sayler, 18, of Park Rapids. She was not injured.

Authorities were still piecing information together on the accident, but Hubbard County interim sheriff Frank Homer said preliminary reports indicate the Sayler vehicle, westbound on 170th Street, which turns into County 15 as it crosses County Road 6, pulled out into the intersection. Kisner's northbound cycle struck the Ford in the driver's door as he was apparently unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.

"It's a sad, sad deal," Homer said.

The accident occurred at 5:50 p.m. Both the Hubbard County Sheriff's Department and Minnesota State Patrol responded. Homer said the patrol will be conducting an accident reconstruction of the crash.

Dean Britton lives on the intersection. He arrived home shortly after the accident. He said this is the second serious accident at the same intersection "in six or seven months." But he said traffic usually isn't a problem there. He's heard from motorists that an area further west on County 15 is a bigger problem.

The accident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
