Man gets 21 months for groping girl, violating restraining order

Kenneth Lee Jackson, 30, of 36095 Lynx Lane, White Earth has been sentenced for felony violation of a restraining order and gross misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

He was originally charged with felony fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and obstructing a peace officer with violence, a gross misdemeanor.

According to court records: On April 9 he walked to the Circle of Life School in White Earth as students were leaving the gym. He talked to a girl and then allegedly reached around and grabbed her breast. She knew who he was in the community but had no relationship to him.

Two boys and a teacher saw the incident and told him to leave. He threatened them but left abruptly when police were called. He ran off and officers found him hiding in a neighboring yard.

He was extremely irate and belligerent when officers arrived, and he professed being a member of the Native Mob and made other gang-related comments, according to the complaint.

The felony harassment charge stems from a May 3 incident in which he contacted a person by phone in violation of a restraining order.

He has seven prior convictions for assault and violating restraining orders.

On Wednesday, District Judge Peter Irvine sentenced him to 21 months in prison, with 252 days credit for jail time served. He was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus court fees, and must register as a sexual offender.

He was also ordered to have no contact with victims and follow any orders for protection or restraining orders.
