Drug bust nets 60 lbs. marijuana
A Lake George man faces felony drug possession charges after Hubbard County authorities found 60 pounds of processed marijuana and 220 more plants at his residence last week.
John Paul Rowland, 52, was charged with Third Degree Controlled Substance, a felony drug possession crime. It is punishable by a maximum of 20 years in jail and/or a $250,000 fine upon conviction.
Hubbard County authorities, with assistance from Cass County, raided Rowland's farmstead on County Road 4 near Lake George Sept. 25.
Hunters in the area alerted authorities Sept. 24 after spotting marijuana plants growing near the residence, a Hubbard County news release indicated. The hunters were chased off the property.
Deputies executed a search warrant, which resulted in the seizure of the plants in the field and several more drying in a barn.
A second search warrant was subsequently executed, and more marijuana plants were found growing or drying on the property, authorities said. The processed marijuana was discovered in the freezer inside.
