Four arrested following search of downtown apartment

Four people are in custody following an apartment search today (Wednesday) in downtown Park Rapids.

According to a news release from the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office, officers Sheriff's Office and Park Rapids Police Department executed a search warrant at an apartment located on the 300 block of South Main Avenue Wednesday.

A large amount of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription drugs, were located and seized. Also located and seized were collector coins, several firearms, a large amount of cash and drug paraphernalia, the news release states.

Taken into custody pending felony drug charges were: Clifford Earl James, 51, Penny Louise James, 43, Cody Allen James, 21, and Emily Paige Johnson, 18, all of Park Rapids.

A 7-month-old infant was also present in the apartment and because of the illegal drugs being used and stored in the apartment, the infant was placed on a 72-hour protective hold and turned over to Hubbard County Social Services.
