Traffic slow moving on Park Rapids' east side
Narrowed lanes and four-way stops have slowed traffic along Highway 34 east in Park Rapids this week.
Tuesday, crews may begin removing blacktop if road weight limits are removed in neighboring counties, Allan Minnerath of Central Specialties, Alexandria, general contractor, said at this week's public information meeting.
This week, chunks of sidewalk were being removed on the south side of the highway.
On the west side of the city, contractors laid sod and were doing other landscaping and finishing work on the portion of the project that was completed last year.
While there are no designated detours, truck traffic is being directed to the CSAH 15 river crossing between Highway 71 and Highway 34.
Central Specialties will hold weekly public information meetings at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Park Rapids Area Library.
Permits for overweight and over width vehicles will not be issued for the area from the junction of Highways 34 and 71 to the junction of Highway 34 and Co. Rd. 107 for the duration of the project.
