Larson resigns as city administrator before he starts
The Park Rapids Council accepted the resignation of Scott Larson at an emergency meeting Monday morning.
The resignation was effective Sunday, the day before Larson was scheduled to start as city administrator.
On Jan. 23, about 24 hours after the Park Rapids Council officially appointed Larson as city administrator, a Hubbard County deputy arrested him for DWI.
Larson, 54, of Cambridge was charged with two counts of third degree DWI, one for results of a breath test showing an alcohol concentration of .19 (with .08 being the legal limit) and one for a prior DWI conviction in November 2005.
Subsequently, the council met in a closed session and determined no action would be taken.
In his letter of resignation, Larson apologized and stated he did not want "to cause any division on the city council or (in) the community at large."
