Dierkhising surpasses 1,000 career points
Grant Dierkhising became the fifth player in the history of the Park Rapids boys basketball program to score 1,000 points Friday night.
Dierkhising hit a short jump shot in the lane with 16:53 to play to surpass 1,000 points in the Panthers' 71-43 loss to East Grand Forks in the championship game of the Park Rapids Holiday Tournament at the Area High School gym.
Dierkhising joins John Dailey, Jay Schmidt, Brady Zubke and Zachary Wolff as the only Park Rapids boys basketball players to reach that scoring milestone.

The Park Rapids girls basketball team lost to Pequot Lakes 69-38 in the championship game of the Walker-Hackensack-Akleley Holiday Tournament.
The Park Rapids-Menahga boys hockey team remained undefeated on the season with a 3-2 win over Irondale at the Eveleth-Gilbert tournament. The Panthers improved to 11-0 on the season.
The Nevis boys basketball team defeated International Falls 71-67 in the third-place game at the Park Rapids Holiday Tournament.
The Nevis girls basketball team defeated Laporte 63-50 in the seventh-place game at the W-H-A Holiday Tournament.
The Menahga boys basketball team lost to Rothsay 59-45 at the Concordia Holiday Tournament.
