Utility work on Highway 34 east to be completed
Underground utility work on the section of Highway 34 east currently closed to through-traffic should be completed next week, according to Allan Minnerath of Central Specialties, general contractor for the highway reconstruction project.
Earthwork in preparation for surfacing is already starting, he said.
Burying a new water line on the north side of Highway 34 in Park Rapids is scheduled to continue at least through Sept. 21.
East and westbound traffic east of Park Rapids is being routed along Co. Rd. 107. Drivers using CSAH 4 are directed to 169th Avenue. The detour is likely to be on until mid-October.
The posted speed limit on Co. Rd. 107 is 45 mph.
Weekly construction meetings are at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Park Rapids Area Library, located at 210 West 1st St.
