Thomas A. Strathman

Thomas A. Strathman, 59, of Park Rapids died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006 near Menahga.

He was born Dec. 18, 1946 to Thadeus and Trula (Gage) Strathman in Manchester, IA. He attended school in Manchester, graduating from North High School in Des Moines. He graduated from Upper Iowa University. He worked for Graybar Electric in Des Moines. He entered the US Army Jan. 6, 1969, serving in Vietnam with the signal corps and was honorably discharged Jan. 5, 1975.

He married Ruth Marie Drake July 24, 1971 at Menlo, IA. He worked for Square D Electric as a field sales engineer in Des Moines and later in Fargo, retiring in 2002. They lived in Moorhead, Pelican Rapids and the last four years in Park Rapids.

He was a member of the American Legion, Blueberry Pines Golf Club and a past member of the Perham Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Jennifer (Thomas) Larson of Chicago and Stephanie (Joel) Dahl of Sabin; four sisters, Becky (Joe) Perez of Lincoln, CA, Mary (Vince D'Luge) Corey of Sixes, OR, Jeanne (Rob Bollenberg) Strathman of Honor, MI and Susie (Craig) Mark of Interlochen, MI; two brothers, Phillip (Karen) of Merrimac, WI and William (Joan) of Des Moines; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Gleaford Paris.

Funeral: Tuesday, Aug. 22 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Father Dennis Wieland officiating.

Honorary casketbearers: Phillip and William Strathman and Jay Wood.

Active casketbearers: Thomas, Matt, Tim and Ryal Wood, Joel Dahl and Andrew Strathman.

Military honors were provided by Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post 212 of Park Rapids. Ray Vaadeland played Taps.
