UPDATE: Power restored north of Park Rapids
A power outage impacted the Park Rapids area on one of the coldest mornings of the year.
According to the Itasca-Mantrap Cooperative, an outage occurred at its Potato Lake substation early Wednesday morning. At one point, approximately 675 customers were in the dark in the Island Lake, Little Mantrap Lake and Two Inlet Lake areas. Itasca-Mantrap crews were dispatched shortly after 5 a.m. and will continue to work in the area until power is fully restored.
Temps in the area were more than 30-below-zero Wednesday morning.
Power has been going on and off for several hours as crews work to repair the problem.
By 10:30 a.m., power was restored to 536, leaving 139 customers without power in the Two Inlets State Forest area.
The cause of the outage is currently unknown.
Power was restored at 1 p.m.
