Remer man sentenced to 12 years for sexual abuse

Body:

WALKER, Minn.—A Remer man was sentenced Monday, Aug. 7, to 12 years in prison for criminal sexual conduct.

Jacob John White, 32, of Remer, was sentenced for first-degree criminal sexual conduct, and the 12-year sentence will run concurrently with a one-year jail sentence for fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct, a release from the Cass County Attorney's office said.

The first-degree charge involved sexual contact with a 4-year-old child in 2016, the release said, and the fifth-degree charge involved attempting to remove a 12-year-old's clothing with sexual intent.

In declining to depart from the sentencing guidelines that call for the sentences to be executed, the court found that White is not particularly amenable to probation, according to the release from the attorney's office.

White must serve a 10-year conditional release period after he serves his sentence and register as a predatory offender upon his release.
