Two fires reported in Nevis over weekend
The Nevis Fire Department responded to two separate fire calls on Saturday morning.
The first call came in at 10:03 a.m. on May 6 for a storage shed located inside of Nevis City limits. Four trucks and six firefighters responded to the vacant shed, receiving mutual aid from Akeley Fire Department.
According to Nevis Fire Chief Mike Marchell, there were no injuries sustained and the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Hubbard County Sheriff's Department.
The second call was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for a mobile home on County Road 33 that had caught fire located outside of Nevis City limits.
Three trucks and three firefighters responded to the fire, both Akeley Fire Department and Park Rapids Fire Department were called for mutual aid, however Park Rapids was cancelled when Akeley arrived on scene.
According to Chief Marchell, it is suspected that the structure caught fire from the result of a grass fire.
