Northern Plains (WDAY-TV/WDAZ-TV) -- A weather system is moving into the Northern Plains today and will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to portions of the WDAY/WDAZ viewing areas. Some showers and storms moved through Thursday morning and brought heavy rainfall to some locations in the Dakota. Slow moving thunderstorms in Brown County dumped 3-6 inches of rain. Heavy rainfall will be the greatest threat today, but not everyone will see it.
For those heading out to WE Fest today, scattered thunderstorms will certainly be possible, especially through the later afternoon and evening hours. Be sure to keep an eye on the weather if threatening weather begins to move in. There is a slight risk of severe weather for areas along and south of I-94/Highway 10, but heavy rainfall remains the bigger threat.
