ND missing woman’s car, prosthetic found in Idaho
Idaho law enforcement officials have discovered items belonging to a North Dakota woman missing since 2011.
The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office told the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office on Thursday that hikers found a prosthetic knee with a serial number matching one belonging to Florence Dumontet of Ardoch, who went missing in 2011 during a trip from North Dakota to Washington state.
Idaho law enforcement officials flew a helicopter in the area where the knee was discovered and found Dumontet's vehicle "in the area of lookout point, along Interstate 90," according to a press release. The car was about 500 yards away from the road. Dumontet, who was 82 at the time of her disappearance, was on her way to visit her children in Washington, a trip she had made many times before.
The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office is holding a press conference at 2 p.m. today.
Ardoch is about 25 miles north of Grand Forks in northeast North Dakota.
