Story of area runner who helped competitor to be on ‘Ellen’ today, Wednesday
The story of a Devils Lake girl who carried an injured competitor on her back in the last moments of a cross country race earlier this month will get another shot of national attention today.
Melanie Bailey carried Fargo South runner Danielle LeNoue to a medical cart at the end of the Eastern Dakota Conference cross country meet Oct. 11 in Glyndon, Minn.
The pair flew out to the Los Angeles area Monday, where they taped a segment Tuesday for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” WDAY-TV reported.
The girls’ story had already been picked up by national news outlets, such as ABC News.
The segment is scheduled to appear on “Ellen” today. The one-hour show airs at 3 p.m. on KVLY.
