Names released in double-fatal crash near Henning

The names have been released of two adults that were in a car going the wrong way on Highway 108 and were killed in a head-on collision Wednesday evening.

  Two children that were in the 1997 Chrysler Cirrus suffered serious injuries in the crash.

     The Chrysler collided with a 2001 Ford Excursion, and two people in that vehicle also suffered serious injuries, according to the state Patrol.

     Deceased are Sean P. Campbell, 34, of Deer Creek (the driver of the Chrysler)  and passenger Pamela K. Whyte Campbell, 26, of Deer Creek.

     Also in the Chrysler were Sean J. Campbell, 5, and Britania N. Watson, 8, both of Deer Creek.

     The driver of the Ford Excursion, Laura J. Smith, 49, and passenger, Grant D. Smith, 50, both of Henning, also suffered serious injuries in the crash.

     The collision occurred at about 6:40 p.m. on Highway 108 and County Road 16 near Henning in Otter Tail County.

     According to the State Patrol, the Chrysler was traveling southbound in the northbound lane. The Ford was unable to avoid the collision, and both vehicles ended up in the ditch.

     The accident occurred on dry two-lane blacktop.

     The Henning Police Department and Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
