The Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hacken-sack-Akeley girls hockey team gave the state’s No. 5-ranked Class A team a battle before Crookston scored twice in the third period to escape the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena with a 3-1 win Thursday night.

Panthers shut out Lightning, Bearcats
Ryan O’Mara and Mark Bravo combined to allow only one goal as the Park Rapids-Menahga boys hockey team coasted to three wins last week.
O’Mara made 15 saves as the Panthers posted their first shutout of the season with a 5-0 win against Northern Lakes at Breezy Point last Tuesday night.

Late run lifts Warroad girls past Panthers
An 8-0 run to end the game gave Warroad a 56-47 win over the Park Rapids girls basketball team Friday night at the Area High School gym.
Warroad jumped out to a 10-1 lead and didn’t trail the rest of the game.

Panthers peaked at right time
Todd Fritze’s main goal for the Park Rapids girls swimming and diving team is to peak at the Section 8A meet.
The Panthers did that again this season, posting 25 season-best times and 23 personal-best efforts en route to winning the section title and qualifying for the state Class A meet in four events.
