To find out why a Menahga School referendum failed and where the district went wrong on the planning for an expansion, citizen focus groups were formed last week.

A Menahga resident said he was unhappy with his CSAH 21 infrastructure project assessments and requested to file for an appeal.
The Menahga City Council received an e-mail from Dean Swanson, who said his assessments were twice the preliminary amount he was told in July.

Park Rapids 2010 tax levy approved 
The 2010 Park Rapids city budget and property tax levy were approved Tuesday night after hearing news that December’s Local Government Aid payment would be spared from unallotment.
At the city’s Truth in Taxation hearing, the 2010 property tax levy was passed at $1,983,127.

Dolly Dissmore is a senior citizen living on CSAH 21 in Menahga who said she can’t afford to pay the special assessments.
