On Sunday, Aug. 22 my family was traveling home from vacation up in Ely when driving down Highway 34 at about 4 p.m. two dogs ran out on the road.September 01, 2010
Letter: Get out and vote this November
Well it’s that time of the year again when soon the trees will be bare, a little nip in the air and you can enjoy a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate in the morning in your favorite chair!September 01, 2010
Letter: Celebrating a local hero
Dave Anderson is an American hero. With his continual dedication to the Park Rapids alumni, he has brought back many of us who would never visit the area after graduating from PRHS and leaving many years ago.

Letter: Vote for Carlson for Senate District 4
We urge all to vote for John Carlson for Senate, District 4. John worked for us (Frank’s Grocery) when he was going to high school and also some of his college years. John is a personable, honest and good worker.

Clarifying sheriff’s department statements
To clarify your statements Mr. Dvorak, I must point out that I actually work at the Sheriff’s Department and I’m not basing my information from a short meeting with the Sheriff. This 2006 Chevy Impala and the car “juggling” you are crediting the Sheriff with isn’t quite free like you said.

Olson brings expertise, experience to job
While it important to me that a state legislator for whom I will vote shares my basic values, it’s too much to expect that we have the same position on every issue.

Letter: Vote ‘yes’ for the students
There is a legitimate reason the Menahga School Board members are once again asking for a vote on a bond proposal. In the Code of Ethics policy it states, “in meeting my responsibilities to my community, I will attempt to appraise both present and future educational needs of the school district.” The appraisal has been made, but no adequate building project has been completed to meet the basic needs of our students.

Letter: Vote for Sheriff Homer in November
During these tough economic times, Hubbard County cannot afford to lose the expertise and maturity of an experienced sheriff who knows how to supervise people, find grant money, and manage budgets.

Letter: Make sure Highway 34 project happens
Highway 34 between Akeley and Park Rapids is the only viable road between these two cities. Every summer it becomes a bumper to bumper racetrack with the locals, tourists and the semi-trucks bringing “stuff” to supply them.

Letter: Getting tired of the Great Bloviator
I wrote recently about the Great Divider. That dividing hasn’t stopped and the Arizona intervention is the evidence.

Education is one of Entenza’s top priorities
When I was a skinny kid in Worthington, from a family without much money and searching for a future, education gave me a chance.

Kelliher won’t stop fighting for Minnesota
On Aug. 10, DFLers across Minnesota will choose who they want to be their next Governor. There is too much at stake to sit this primary out.
